Came across these on display at our local shopping centre recently. Apparently they are looking at making a slightly longer version. Exact sizing the guy at the display couldn't tell me but most likely early next year.

Thats what I thought. The nosecone is separate from the main area, unfortunately. I like the concept, though. It would be easy enough to tow with a basic 4cyl car.

These have been around for at least 6 years or so.

A guy I know had one he used for windsurfing, had racks on the top and all the sails etc went inside.

Yep, they are making a longer and taller version I was told. At 1800mm for the interior length they are slightly too short I'd imagine. My longest board is 265cm I think.

My interest in one of these is so we can go down to a smaller car and put everything in the trailer. I'm pretty sure even a small 4 cylinder could tow one no probs. The trailers themselves look very light and with a couple of boards, rigs, wetsuits, etc. I still think the weight would be minimal. Would have to be more ecconomical than sticking a heap of gear on the top of a car.

Just hope they bring out the longer version soon. Either that or cutting a hole through the wall to the front compartment....

Couldn't you just punch cut a hole through to the nosecone?
How much are they?

where do these clowns get off ???
you can go and buy a heavy duty 8x5 dual axle trailer for about 2/3 of that price and with a few mods have the perfect trailer.

I know their too big and heavy for a small car, but its the pricing that gets me.
Just cos they have a fancy paintjob and some nicely moulded panels (woopdi doo) they think that you should pay premium dollars.

People are too easily suckered into the "gee that looks flash" syndrome and end up paying a fortune.

I know what you mean! I almost spent hundreds on a "proper" bike trailer, then I found that a $25 push trolley from a hardware store does the same job just as well! (Don't trust golf buggies, they can't carry the weight of windsurf gear for long without breaking, and the wheels aren't made for use on hard surfaces)...



I plan to get my drivers licence sometime before my 40th birthday; then it will be a whole new ballgame! Look out world! I'll be able to do donuts and park with chicks and everything! Woo-hoo!!

Have to say though, it wasn't the "flash" factor that sucked me in but the thought of being able to pack all my gear into it and easily being able to cart it to the beach with a small car.

I have no interest in modifying a trailer, mostly because I don't really have the knowledge or tools.... so a "few" mods would most likely turn into a grands worth at least. On top of that your looking at more again for petrol....

But sure, I agree, it's probably way over priced for what is is..... but what isn't. Seriously. Apart from that though I figured some might be interested in seeing what was out there...

It is a nice looking trailer, a bit on the pricey side, but if you dont have anyone that can mod your 6x4 or have no inclination to do this, then it could be a good option. If you were to go out and buy a heavy duty tradies trailer you would be looking at the same coin......

Have been trying to sort out something to go on the roofrack of my 4wd so I don't have to take the gear out of the car when you go out with the girlfriend.

Plus seeing the inside full of sand and dripping seawater doesn't help to keep the interior looking tidy.

I don't want to tow a trailer around and I don't want to be bothered with putting boards on a roofrack when the car is often left in a public carpark during the day.

The front seat has to be folded right down to let the boards sit flat.

Luggage pods seemed a good idea but they don't seem to make them quite long enough.
I see this pod advertised has been modified with some extra box shape glassed in at one end to extend the length a bit although the photo is cut off at this point.

Of course the longer the pod, the stronger it has to be made and perhaps an extra rack needed to support it.

my longest board is 2.5 m.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes pods this long as Rola etc don't appear to ..and I might look to having to get something custom made.

I don't really want to sell what I have got and get a van...losing money and giving more money to Carps ..

ejmack, just re-read my post, and I wasn't intending to have a go at you, just a general rant about sales and marketing, and how they come up with prices.

grumplestiltskin - I may have taken your reply as being directed at me rather than the various companies... my misunderstanding.

da vecta - I hear ya. As I said though, I was told they have plans to make a longer version. I have no idea what size though.

The roof top box's look great btw. Just not for my gear. Again, the length being the problem. Much appreciated for pointing those out!
