Hey guys, wondering if anyone (in sydney area?) might have an old spare mast extension ring ?

I got an older extension with some gear and the sleeve ring was missing. I tried contacting a few shops but none have the part floating around so far.

prolimit had a similar design for an RDM extension, I know cause I lost the ring and bought a spare but cannot see if they have an SDM version you could use.

you might be able to find an old ball race from a bearing, or break a bearing apart, which has a bevel inside it that will clamp the steel spring ring, which is how it works. Need the right ID though ,!

This is what I meant: the seat from a tapered roller bearing . a used one would be fine.

So I could just go to a bearing place ? and ask for a tapered roller bearing? Are they a standard kind of size? Sorry for dumb questions.

Thanks for the previous spare part link - you would think the SDM extension diameter would be all basically the same so the ring would fit multiple brands?

The RSX use the same system.
You can probably buy the full kit second hand for less than the price of an extension now that it's not Olympic anymore.

I'll check if I have a spare and let you know.

Mate I found this you can have from an old ext. You will need a thin rubber o ring to hold it in place. PM if you want it and I will post it to you.

Thanks Steve - that is very generous of you. I will happily compensate for your time and postage as well. Appreciate you making the effort mate ;)

Nah, the metal snap ring that is already on the extension is what is normally holding it. You shouldn't need an o-ring as well.

Maybe he meant on the top of the silver ring? I ended up putting one on mine. Otherwise the little burgers always fall off when you take the mast extension out (which I normally do in the water if it's flat at the beach so I can roll the sail up in the water without getting sand on it). But then that pesky silver ring falls off and no amount of foot stomping or feeling the sandy bed will find it ... ever, ever again :-).
