Must be a slow news day when you have to make things up to have a story.

The headline should be "A man goes windsurfing."

What a joke. He's not thanking them, he's telling them to get out of the way. Didn't look like he struggled with anything other than the wind shadow.

Wow. Ridiculous reporting!! I think the sailor would have been happier to not have help as the "Good Samaritans" came close to smashing his board on the concrete.

It would be interesting to hear their report on some real dodgy launch spots. They would report it as "suicide"!!

Sorry to say but this sort of reporting makes Americans look like a bunch of pu**ies. Ironically just 4 hours South people regularly sail in 60 knts on a river.

Not really surprised though. I remember back in 1991 driving from Canada via Spokane down to Hood River. About 200 kms North of the Gorge people had no clue that not far from them was one of the best windsurf spots on the planet. I guess it goes hand in hand with 60% of Americans believing the Earth was created in 7 days and people like Trump ending up running for president.

That level of beyond dumb reporting is pretty common here and is why I can't stand American tv news.

Holy fark what about that for a slow news day and moronic TV reporters.

The guy was fine and the launch was a bit tricky but far from deadly (a couple of dings in the board if unlucky). He was in control of the whole thing all the time.

The launch at the Hatchery and other places at The Gorge are no better than this one at very windy days.

A bloke goes sailing in a stiff breeze. Shock horror! He could have died! Or his unwanted rescuers could have died!
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the USA there would have been about 20 murders, and a whole bunch of rednecks walking the streets insisting on their constitutional right to scare the rectal contents out of sane people by openly carrying semi automatic rifles

I actually had something similar happen to me when I was teaching myself to windsurf. Standing on the board struggling with uphaul pretty near shore suddenly two tourists jumped in and smam to me, the heroes said, "do you need some help", I just looked at them dumbfounded and said, "NO", their look was so defeated as they turned around and swam back in. They meant well but it was so silly.

On the other hand... Trudging through 200 yards of Morton Bay mud at low tide when you are r00ted after a long session. I wouldn't mind a couple of lackeys then.... But people just seen to stare at you.
