I received notification that the dates for the event have been set for 2015. They will be offering similar flight/hotel/gear, package deals as the 2014 event.
The organizers are still working on some details which will be confirmed later on.
Thought I would share in case some people need longer lead times for booking of holidays with employers.

For a short diary of the event last year, see amazing photos and racing around the locations the event is held around the island.

Mauritius is a truly amazing location for windsurfing with colours in the water unparalleled by anywhere else on the planet.

All locations are excellent for spectators to relax at a bar, sun bed or shady palm tree on a wind protected beach with excellent viewing at the same time.

As you arrive on the island the event organizer Chris Tyack will have everything sorted for you and your accommodation, half board (breakfast and dinner), all Transport for you spectators and gear to event locations, and airport pickup and dropoff. So you won't need to worry about a thing. Just enjoy the hospitatlity and beauty of the island and its amazing sailing conditions.

Kite and windsurf combined racing is really cool fun and super safe and competitive :)

Who is planning to go to the Mauritius Freeride Challenge 2015 ?

At the moment we have some names who are pretty keen to go:

Claude Lecoq (machine)
John Norton (recycle machine?)
Colin Crumb
Rowan Law
Isaac de Vries

To improve our chances of taking the win for the Australian team and raising the Aussie Flag we can start to do some sort of training and maybe a few gatherings for planning gear selection etc for the event and conditions to expect. A bit of team moral boosting etc before event starts. Maybe even organise a team t-shirt design haha

PM me if you are interested in going to the Mauritius Freeride Challenge this year or are thinking about it and i can give you more info if needed or any guidance to your final decision in going! Its an easy decision if you have been. The most amazing water conditions with lagoons stretching all around the island and out for up to 4km from mainland Main word from last years event spoken about was FOMO! Fear Of Missing Out! next year Winds generally 12 to 22 knots! Mirror flat turquoise blue water everywhere!!

Hi Col, looks a great event. I did the HIHO in the Caribbean a few years back, which was fun. Might give you a call to discuss.

cheers KJ

If you are looking for cheap accommodation before the event (July), I have a two bedroom apartment rented in La Gaulette, only 10mn drive from the spot. On a sharre basis, it's 30 Euros per day including car, hard to beat. Windy just about everyday, waves, flat water, Le Morne has got it all. Send me a message if you would like more information.
