So, Marc Pare leaves Duotone.

Interesting where he will land.

From FB:

At the end of this 2023 season unfortunately we will be parting ways with one of our team riders. Decisions like these are not made easily and we are sad to no longer be working with Marc Pare. The industry is facing a critical time and unfortunately some difficult decisions have been made. We want to thank Marc for his endless support and hard work during his years at Duotone and we wish him the very best for his career ahead.

Presumably Duotone are referring to the Windsurfing Industry and the influence the growth in wing foiling is having on windsurfing gear sales.

Marc's Icelandic adventures produced some of the best naturalistic duotone imagery in the world

we all know windsurf dedication is measured in increments of latitude

It will be interesting to see what Marc has to say when he comes on the podcast in a few days.

If a brand can afford him, I think he is worth his weight in gold. Future world champion potential, content creator, tester and seemingly an allound nice guy.

Who cares where he lands - he'll be fine. I had to google him to know who your talking about. Sounds like duotone want to support Wing dings more - Wings dings are what failed windsurfers go to.

Why wasn't such a fuss made when the face of JP left and is now on Goya. The industry has continually evolved and will continue to do so. New craft come along and the market shifts. Wings and foils are the centre of the universe now but the core of windsurfing is still the same.
Even Ben made reference to whether his livelihood will still be viable.

Like Ben said 1:55 in , JP hasnt been in the news or sailed much this year. Its different to someone who has finished 4th in the world this year, sails a lot away from the PWA and has a social media presence covering that who hasnt had their contract renewed. I think this highlights the amount of money available for team riders. How many PWA wave events were there this year? Pozo and Sylt? The others were IWT.

JP sold the brand (isnt JP/NP owned by an equity firm in Germany these days?), and maybe the deal on royalties has run out like Ben said. Who knows.

Ben also mentions in this podcast that in surfing the pros are given the kit but make their money from clothing sponsorship etc. Same for motorbike racing in the UK, few pros get paid much by the factory teams, most get outside sponsorship.

Marc Pare back on Simmer, nice one!

Press release from Simmer:

We are beyond excited to announce that Marc Par? Rico is back on the Simmer Style team. Marc began his career as a professional windsurfer on Simmer Style at the age of 14. Marc is one of the most accomplished and influential windsurfers of modern times. He is well known for his exceptional skills, dedication, and passion for the sport. After spending some time together with Marc in January, sharing our vision for the brand's future, and showing the products we are currently working on, we agreed that Marc should come home to the Simmer Style family. We believe in building long-term relationships with everyone in our organization. Many of our team riders have spent most of their careers as a part of the Simmer Style family. We have long-term relationships with all our suppliers, and most of our in-house staff have worked with the brand for over a decade. This is how you create a strong team that grows together over time. We all look forward to working with Marc throughout his career to achieve all his goals.Marc Par? Rico brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Simmer Style family. Marc will work closely with our R&D together with our Sail Designer, Tomas Persson, Board Designer, Ola Helenius, Creative Director, Peter Anjou and his Simmer Style team mates, Kai Katchadourian, Ben Proffitt and Alessio Stillrich.

Phantom Foiling have signed up Pierre Mortefon, Pierre looks happy with this, I'm well chuffed for him.

Hopefully Riccardo, Maciek and all the others can also get new contracts before the season kicks off. Pretty **** feeling when your employer asks you to clear your desk out....
