My local spot is at the Sanctuary Point boat ramp on St Georges Basin. The runs are almost 2km long with the first 750m being chest deep before getting to larger chop.I believe it is the best location on the east coast for improving your shortboard windsurfing ,particularly for people learning to water start or gybe. The NE sea breezes are far stronger than in Sydney .This spot works in NE,E,SE and south. For winds from the SW and west we sail at Paradise beach about 2km away on the west side of St Georges Basin which has super flat water as it is only knee deep. Great for freestyle and the GPS guys can reach 40 knots there. The west basin is a huge area and is now being used for foiling as it doesn't have any weed and covers S,SW ,NW and north winds.
Many people first time visitors from Sydney and Canberra get blown off the water as they don't have gear small enough.
In the area we also have Jervis bay with lots of wildlife and large chop and rolling swell with 5 knots less wind . 35 minutes drive north is the famous wave sailing spot of Gerroa.
