The iconic event is now back bigger and better this year and we are aiming for 75 or more competitors to take on the challenge and have some fun!!

We have 2x professional drone pilots/film/photographers with the best drones out there to capture all the action!

At this stage approx $60 entry for entire event (includes FREE fish and chips and event t-shirt)
For GPS only entry approx $30 (includes FREE event t-shirt)
Recommended to just enter entire event and you will get dinner included Saturday night

5th: Slalom @ Thirsty Point (iconic 9km downwind course)
6th: Slalom @ Thirsty Point (Iconic 9km downwind course)
6th: presentation 330pm at the beach

1pm to 5pm:
GPS 4hr window for best category winners.
Setup with KA72.com
Zone specified within thirsty point to Cervantes Island and across to South end of Hansen bay. (more details soon)

1hr average speed
Nautical mile
5 x 10 sec top speed
2 sec top speed
Upload by 730pm. Software provided to include race time, zone, category and virtual racing.

A SUPER FAST AND EASY FREERACE BOARD!

Originally designed and trimmed to combine early planning, speed, control and easy jibing, the new Firestorm V4 line has been completely re-considered not only in terms of shape and details, but mainly for its program of use.

During the last 48 months since the first introduction of the Firestorm V1 Line, we have consistently kept on shaping new prototypes trying to improve the magic mix of the existing boards. But we could only improve one or two parameters, better upwind or better jibing while keeping the same top speed, but then either early planing or manouverability was being sacrificed.

48 months of development, over 25 prototype boards and over 300 hours of testing time in the water have not managed to improve the magic mix of the V1 and V2 Firestorm shapes.

Then we have started to re-consider the program of use and we have understood that when you choose a new board around the program of "fast freeriding" the most important parameter is SPEED. So the whole concept of creating a 30% faster board whilst keeping early planing and control have given life to a completely new line of Firestorm boards: the VERSION 4.

I might regret opening a can of worms here.....but here goes...need to ask the WA locals, as you guys in the west have something we rarely see much of here ...that is strong wind! Didn't one of the races last year have crew on wave sails?

Pick 1 board and 2 sail sizes to bring over for the event, what would you choose?

Fins? Is there much ribbon weed? would we need weedies?

This actually has me on the hook. A couple of questions. Is there more than one down wind race per day ? If so, do people just sail back up wind or shuttle. And, is there an amateur fun board division for the wave sailors or FSW boards ?

LOVE SHACK and ROCK LOBSTER ?

To answer Jonesy Sail and NR.

Cervantes is where the famous WA seabreezes really kick up a notch. Lancelin can be light to nothing when Cervantes is 15-20 knots.

Typically between 18-30 knots at Cervantes . The seas are slightly steeper but there is a greater distance between the crests so its actually a lot smoother than it looks. The angle of the course legs is perfect to go between the seas.

1 board and 2 sail combo would be for a 85kg person 100L board and 6m and 7m sail. (hopefully you could see forecast last minute and adjust) you would generally get 2 sets of conditions.
1. FKN Windy 25-35 knots
2. Solid Winds 15-25 knots
Depends on weather systems at the time etc.

RACE DAY you sail upwind to the start line (takes about 10 mins max for most sailors) There is a lot of time allowed for this incl restWe will try to have a flag on the beach this year to help match the start boat and for those with fading vision to set watches on the start sequence

Divisions are age groups . we have thought about adding a wave gear class in the past.

It would classified it as a non-weed fin zone. I am pretty fussy about weed on my fin and dont get irritated up there and it wont affect the results of a race either

I have sailed up here many years on 48cm fins to 32cm in all wind strengths.

There is some ribbon but very rare to catch it, and with the good winds we should be powered up enough anyway to cut through any unsuspecting strands

CRAZY WAVES!!

Our new racing division for all those who want to race but don't have slalom gear or think the forecast is too much for them to battle it out on the slalom equipment! Slalom sailors can be equal to all the wave sailors who want to test their metal on similar gear around a fun long course!

This is a separate division to Open, Youth, Masters , Grand Masters etc. We can change from these divisions on the day if you enter early and the wind kicks in like Cervantes is famous for!

If Daniel is as good on the guitar as he is on the piano, then this should be good.

So we sail up, race down. Is this done once. Or is it re-run as many heats can squeeze in ? Plus, do all divisions go at the same time ?

All race together. We time it so its not too rushed but not too slow

If winds change drastically we will allow re rigging time

All sail back up and restart

Aim for 4 races a day
