I'm a student doing my thesis project on landsailing and have a few questions (by the way, I've never land sailed before, only sailed in water). First off does a landsailer handle wind and steering the same way as a sail boat (i.e. points of sail such as broad reach, beam reach ect)? Does the sail need to be turned perpendicular to the wind when it's behind the sailer? If there's a different way to handle wind, could someone please direct me to a site that explains it or doodle a quick picture? Much appreciated.

Are you asking about land sailing which is windsurfing on land (i.e. and over sized skate board) or land yachting. If windsurfing then yes its much the same. Harder for some moves and easier on others. Including points of sail.
Do a search on youtube for landsailing and parkdale. you should see a very light wind landsailing race.

Agree Mark, but instead of a bit tighter, (than a yacht anyway) I'd say a lot tighter.
A windsurfer at speed, (around windspeed), across the wind (C) is almost sheeted completely in, not far off (B).
And Probably the same as a windsurfer, the fastest, (up to twice windspeed depending on wind strength), angle downwind is D, and the sail angle would be about half way between B & C. As Mark Says the landyacht would be faster & tighter still.
Also agree with previous poster, the landyacht forum, will be able to give you more accurate angles if you need them.
