I'm new to the forum and I probably missed out on all the information I'm looking for in the past, but some of you guys might be able to direct me in the right direction.
I'm Belgian and not a lot of KA sails is to be found around here. So I started google to find information about the ka race 2013. How well they behave on different masts, windrange and most of all if they would suit my needs.
I'm a freeracer/slalommer who does mostly distance and hours (gps speedsurfing and gps teamchallenge) so I'm in need of a well balanced, not too hard to tackle sail. Flatwater to choppy is what I usually sail on.
I found a range of KA race sails but unfortunately i cannot find anyone who can tell me something about them, except for the seller...

Anyone can help me?

Hi, I have both KA Koncepts and Race, I am not an expert, just an average gps sailor. I found the Koncepts to be lighter and easier and I think might suit better your hour and distance on freerace boards. The KA Race is harder to waterstart and jibe and feels a bit heavier on the hands, but is a really stable sail and great in overpowered conditions. I think in flat water you will have no problems with the ka race and in the chop too if you are used to 4 cams sails.

thanks for the reply. Since you say the race is stable and good in overpowered, I understand it is a sail that can last in various conditions. (I hate changing gear). I do sail 4 cam sails at the moment and prefer it because of the windrange they have.
(it came to my ear that the koncepts are not as wide in windrange as the race?)

So you see they're actually coming not far from you, not sure if that will help at all.

I'm using constant curve masts, and they seem to set OK, but I think I'd get more draft with a stiffer bottom or flexier top.
Any way, there are a few of us here using Ka's mainly the koncepts for the GTC, but one of the guys has gone over to the race, and says they are more stable.
But I'm not sure they're quite as fast off the wind, I think they are more designed for a high average speed on a course, not necessarily max speed down wind.
But for distance and hours, they'd probably be better.

Well, i'm not looking fot that last knot since i'm just not the fastest guy on the course. Most recent sails will boost my pr's since they are achieved with freeracers from 2006-2009. But these replies have already given me some answers!!

Well this morning the tracker says it departed Perth on the 4th, and will be in Mandurah on the 8th. Interesting it takes 4 days to get from The Netherlands to Perth, but is expected to take another 4 days to get a 1hrs drive away.
I hope it's not going around Australia first.
Be interesting to see if the next item on the list is a Sydney arrival scan.
Or maybe the Perth guys are just really busy.

Well what do you know, the tracker still says the sail will be delivered Thursday the 8th, but the delivery van turned up about 1230 today! Good job we were in, a half hour later we were gone.

Rigged it an hour or so ago, wasn't sure if the cams would fit my mast, but only needed 1 spacer on the bottom camber and it fits like a glove.
Looks very nice, plenty of draft, and build quality seems to have improved.
Found the centre camber a bit harder to locate on the mast without it's own zipper, the boom cut out helps but isn't as good as it's own zipper.

Just wait until you get it on the water, 2015 model is a very very good beasty

Back on topic...Aldo from the GPSTC "The Pit Crew" uses a 5.5 race as his go to speed sail and has a lot of success on the speed course. The Koncepts are a little lighter, narrower mast pocket and the smaller sizes have a deeper profile. They all have a really good wind range and very stable, 6.6 for me is good from 18-30. Enjoy the sails

The Ka site says their sails are tested in Melbourne... Yet they have no distributor here. Great.
