Would a 5m KA koncept 2009 work with a 370 neilpryde rdm? or is the luff sleave and mast bend totally differnet. The mast is IMCS 16. Thanks

As far as I know NP masts have a more flexible top, Koncepts are made for Constant Curve, so you would get a pretty floppy leach, but not sure if it is the same for rdms...

ka are constant curve leaning towards flextop from that era, so you might be in luck.

not all constant curve masts are the same. they are spread across a range from slightly stiff top to slightly flex top.

not sure if the length and imcs is good as i can't find the 2009 specs online.

agreed it may jusst work as far as bend curve goes.... but a 370RDM is pretty damn floppy ona wavesail let alone a race sail. What's the luff length?

thanks for the replies i have found a second hand Ka mast to suit the sail, now i know that i have a backup mast for the sail

My 5.8 Koncept works well with a 430 Neil Pryde X3 mast. I know others with Koncepts who use Neil Pryde masts too.

I would expect the 5m would need a 400.

No doubt best to get a KA mast if you can.

Have have a few older Koncept 5.0s and would NOT use a pryde x3 on them, used one in the past on my 07 and just flapped the leech to peices and wrecked the sail,also the rotation is not good as the pryde mast is thicker and they stick all the time, tapped it up and have used a fibrespar tidal wave 400 since as my speed sail on the biggest days, RIP 07 2 weeks ago. use the tidal wave on my 08 5.0 and sets and goes absolutely sweet,have had some good numbers on this setup
not all year Koncepts are the same there is a huge difference betweeen my 07 and 08 especially in belly depth the 07 being way deep. your 09 is more like the 08 more slalom than speed.

use KA masts on my 5.8 and 6.6 011 models and are sweet as.
