hi.
anyone with this fin?,same shape as select edge maybe?
I have a 30 cm Fang that I use on my RRD FSW 90 with the Point-7 ACX 5.4 and 6.0. It works as advertised and I have no complaints. Faster that the stock draggy MFC Freewave 28 (an anchor), still quite agile and holds well in a power jibe. No spin out problems if you keep a light foot when overpowered (as one should!).
how compares to a g10 fin quality, flex?,does it creates enought lift,im currently using select s1 high wind, very comfy fins but they lack a bit of lift on light winds
It is not bad at all. I have used Tectonics Goldwind, Fury and Phoenix in comparable lengths (28 to 33) on small slalom boards. The Fang is not far removed at 1/3 of the price. I was tempted to get the more freeride oriented Tectonics Falcon for the RRD to compare apples with apples, but never followed up. A Phoenix is of course going to be better on a dedicated Slalom board. But 30 Fang on my RRD delivered what I was looking for: more lift, carrying capacity and speed. I am light, 72Kg, and I can use it with a 6.5 with no problem.
is it stiff as the g10 or feels more flexy in general?
im tempted to buy it,at 70 bucks is worth it! may be next summer..
Hard to tell without some measuring device ... but one could make it as stiff as desired, up to a point, it is a plastic. They say that it is stiffer than the material they use for their Wave fins, and I am sure they did test to find a good compromise flex/stiffness. I have a smaller K4 that I used in 3 fin configuration for the RRD and Starboard 81. It was also very fine. I am back on single fin however, and using Maui Ultra Fin 22 and 24 X-wave for 4.2 to 5.4. I really like those and Maui Ultra Fin might be an alternative for you. Cost for the G-10 is midway K4 and Tectonics, see
www.mauiultrafins.shop/Ride_1 for their freeride, and
www.mauiultrafins.shop/X-Ride_1 for the X-ride
thanks for yours thoughts!,maybe i will give it chance on the summer,
speaking of K4 fins, today sailed with 4.2 and 68l,i felt the jp g10 fin very stiff under feets, thats remember in youth when i used to sail with softer fins and how was a pretty feeling, after long use and since material updates i didnt use them any more, using stiff g10 fins nowadays, thinking back to the flex , think of k4 scorcher or rear flex..
