I am looking for a Windsurf holiday in June this year.

Maui is the obvious choice but it's pretty pricey for somewhere that is relitavely flat at that time of year.

Any good suggestions boys and girls?

The Gorge is going off in June, big winds and huge swells. Still a strong current so it goes off big time. Ski in the morning, windsurf in the afternoon!

How reliable is The Gorge? I went there once, but I think it was pretty late in the season. How long does the season go for?

wind, waves, and happiness, and quite a few kites as well, but still very good

Australian destinations would be Green Is off Cairns, or Cocos Is, off WA, in June

Both sound attractive. If I do Mauritius I will be under pressure to take the family! Pity it's school term time.

Hi Darvio, it sounds like you want somewhere warm and outside Australia? The best place will depend on what type of windsurfing you want, and the $$$ travel budget - travelling solo or with family? - waves or flat water? Are you ok doing other stuff if no wind or do you only want a windy destination.
Mauritius is way more $$$ than Maui, it's mostly all inclusive resorts, although you can find cheaper accomo,, the windsurfing conditions and wind reliability in June in Maui is much better than Mauritius. Maui is not that flat in June, (search on GreenLeader Cold and Windless posts), there are waves and wind swell to be found if that's what you would like, Flights to Maui are cheaper than ever, but you need a car.
How about Fiji ? Formula Nova loved it there

I went to Fiji twice. Once for 3 weeks and then for 2 weeks the following year. The wind wasn't that great each time, but I got a lot of relaxing reading done in the hammock. It was sort of funny after week 1 because the new arrivals would get itchy the minute they saw trees move, but it wasn't that windy most of the time.

The first time was to learn how to water-start, so it must have been the second time that I went there to be used as a gybe-marker.

I only broke/lost one fin on the coral heads there, so I consider it a successful trip! I wouldn't go back there though, as the windless days were more than the windy days.

Canaries, home of dunkerbeck. A long way but not that expensive.

Wherever you go, make sure it's peak season for wind there. Pointless to go on a windsurfing holiday only to sail a couple of days a week. Cocos is flat water only. Mauritius is peak for wind July - October, although it can be windy enough in May and June. Slumming in Mauritius is way way cheaper than Maui. 5* hotels will also be cheaper in Mauritius as well, which is a no brainer - one is the most expensive state in the richest country in the world, the other is a borderline third world country (no offense to any Mauritians reading this). You can stay at the Riu Creole in July/August (peakiest peak, because it coincides with European school holidays) for 90-100 euro per night all inclusive with the Ion (Fanatic/North) club right on the hotel grounds. I don't see how Maui can be cheaper (you need a car in Maui). The good thing about Mauritius is that it always has waves, even if there is no wind. The currents can be downright scary, though.

Cocos is not cheap either and far better suited to kiting. Windsurfing from the yacht club is VERY tide dependant and you can't hire gear unless you book a full 2 week accomodation & kit package (this still confuses the s@!t out of me. Even though there is spare gear you can't just walk up and rent for the day).

Cocos sounds like a bit of work for potentially not that great conditions. If I stayed in Oz it would probably mean a trip to green island. Winter at my local (Middleton) is pretty good. But I would be nice to go somewhere warm for a change.

Will need a wetsuit in Mauritius.
