Use some washing up liquid to lub the screw, and use a large size screwdriver to get decent torgue on the screw. Makes a huge difference! I had this problem with a new board, when I just used a little phillips screwdriver and no lubrication :-)

mabey try a few diferent screws .. but make sure the tread runs at same angle as old screw .. just a smaler gague
BTW the way the screws are special (the are originally designed for plastic fasteners on aircraft...), so don't be tempted to replace them with ordinary ones, you will damage the board.
Failing that take it a shop, they should have the appropriate sized screwdriver etc
