After only ever ridden big wide board, I've got this board today to try.

Should I take the side fins out?

Front straps are in the inboard settings.
One rear strap.

I've never been around boards like this.
Any hot tips before it gets wet appreciated.

Fins will feel too small at first but eventually you'll adjust your stance to not spin out. 6.4 might be on the big side??

6.4 is the smallest sail I've got.
Maybe it won't get that strong.

I've got a choice of 27 or 33 fin.
Should I be going the smaller pointer if leaving side fins too?

Use the 33, skip the sides. Spinout with a single strap is much easier to recover from.

if your sail has cammes will not feel very good with the single strap at the back. Try and go upwind/downwind, across will be hard

Way overgunned and undergunned

It's a wacky day, nowhere near forecast.

You have blanks for the fins? You can use 27 with 6.4, just go easy before you build up speed.

Don't expect it to just plane, you have to bear away a lot more and don't load up your back leg too much otherwise it'll spin out.
Once planing then head upwind a little if you need to.
Throw it into a turn really hard.

I would probably struggle getting a large freeride sail to talk to a waveboard. But does not hurt trying. Individual style, technique and body play a big part in that. Good luck.

Huey was playing games with me.
I took the wave board out and it dropped to 14kts.
Taking off from beach in offshore wind. Not too much power there. I didn't want to go out far and find out i couldn't get it going and not get back.
Bummer.
Not a good day for a test to see how i'd go on smaller board here.
Obviously that was an extreme change of kit, but so where the changes in wind speed. Tricky business today.

Mobdog was having a ripper on big kit, so i went for a go on mine.
I threw that into a turn which ended dramatically.

It was fun trying. I feel like they might have started to talk if there was more wind.
