Generally speaking, Waratah bay and Shallow Inlet are relatively shark free. It's off the beaten path a bit. Very few shark sightings over the years I have been here (forever).
Having said that, the entrance to any inlet is a bit dicy. We catch a lot of Salmon around the entrance so there might be a few Noahs following them. I have surfed a lot out there and at times there have been sensational breaks, but the entrance has shifted a lot and it is no where near as good now as at some times in the past.
One day we were surfing there and a school of salmon surged past right around us. My mate's son quickly paddled to the boat saying he wanted to throw out a lure and try to catch some. I followed him, but I was more interested in the question of what was chasing them.

My strategy: Surf with a mate. That gives you a 50/50 chance.

And no way would I swim or surf anywhere around the entrance of Corner Inlet, or any of the channels inside it either.
