Do you guys like the feeling of the pole sticking out your back? Seems like it would get annoying but i haven't tried
Well, like is maybe the wrong word. If it is too long, you feel it a bit wobbling in the back, but not really disturbing.
THe only time I find it a bit disturbing is when waterstarting. The moment you pull the sail/mast over your head to get it out of the water, it hits the camera/stick. So when using the camera, I more often swim to the top of the sail and start lifting it up from there. That helps to avoid that the mast hits the camera. But maybe thats just me.
Overall, I'd say to not make the stick longer than maybe 3-4 ft. that is enough for a good angle. longer sticks wobble a lot, which also leads to a wobbly footage. Longer sticks also put more strain on the stick/mount (and break easier). Plus the waterstart-nuisance.
So overall, go for a shorter stick.
