I have followed the windsurfing events in Worthington, Minnesota for nearly 15 years now, since I came to to know my friend Craig Bergh, who lives there and has been intimately invloved with the events for what seem like forever. I have always been in awe of the way this towns community embraces the windsurfing events.

The combination of the USA Course Racing Championships with an Arts and Music festival seems like a great fit. Its one mellow event, and one that I would love to attend, not particularly for the competitive sailing, but just to immerse my self in the wider experience. Hopefully, one day.

Hello

This will be the 20th Annual Regatta and Music Festival. Worthington is a small town located between cornfields on a high bluff called Buffalo Ridge. We have very good winds, sometimes very high winds.

The music is outdoor, beachside, and completely free. It is performed right on the Beach. This year it is a #1 Country Hit Band PARMALEE.

If there is enough interest, we may find a few GW60 GPS units, and have a speed sailing competition during the 3 day event. $500 to the top rider.

We have hosted riders from UK, France and Belgium, and Australia as well.

Allison Shreeve AUS911 was here in 2008. The winds were over 35 knots for all 3 days. Allison managed to sail her 9.0 Formula Gear in these extreme conditions. She was a great sportsman, and a welcome guest.

i love this idea.

i got close to trying a similar event in qld through windwanders although it was going to be a defi style distance race with a jazz festival.

got told it was silly idea and it seemed too big a task to go it alone so it never moved forward.

cudos to the people with ideas that made this event.

Thatd be a Helluva fun festival to attend! About time Woodford festival met the beach. Choosing a suitable venue would be the issue.

the idea was to sail from woorim to happy valley along the beach at bribie. Is about 28km and works in most prevailing wind directions. about half hour travel time. or could go half way and do a return leg.

support vehicles were 4wd's along the beach plus a boat on the water chasing the fleet with jazz festival at blueys on bribie which used to be a bit of a jazz hub in it's day.

Perhaps a few musicians who windsurf could get on board?

The Worthington Wind and Music Festival is set for early June every year. I have not attended the festival, but I have sailed the lake there at other times. Great place. Windy.

I live in eastern WA state. I can drive up to I-90, put the van in cruise control and bomb many many hours east on I-90 all the way to Worthington. This would be a great application for a self-driving truck.

i know a few local that rock harder than most.

maybe some of the interstate windsurfing musos would join in too..

Well Icehouse is Playing in Townsville in July - maybe get Iva on a board again. Recent message from him he doesn't sail any more due to sinus problems when at the beach etc.
