Looking at another member's comments/pics on a thread, I wonder if we can post some injury pics (not too graphic)

I haven't taken any of my w/surfing bruises/gashs, but my ankle still aches when a storm's-a-comin'

Yeah....that's a prem medallion!

Just 'coz I wore a black & white jumper for my local club doesn't make me a collingwood supporter!

The fact that I am one (coll'wood supporter) makes your comments 'relative', I guess?!?

The surgery to fix recurrent dislocations (right shoulder).

I got one of those too, and on the right shoulder - which I believe is the worse of the two to dislocate as there is an artery that runs close to the area that can kill you if damaged. Thats why right shoulders go straight into emergeny, no waiting around triage.

I got to the stage of being able to pop it back in myself (even halfway through a heat in a wavesailing comp) and head back out and sail some more. But then progressed to waking up in the middle of the night with it dislocated after rolling over in bed.

Yeah, Jordo, but I remained conscious throughout the whole surgery, although the bullet I was biting did go off and shot through my left cheek.

Nah, I didn't think that it's a competition or anything.

Sailhack my left foot looks very similar to yours at the moment after a windsurfing crash on Saturday. Stopped dead when I hit a sand bank and my back foot didn't come out of the strap.

Now on crutches and in heaps of pain and forecast for more wind this weekend

Been there done that. Only hurt foot properly once doing it though luckily and it wasn't very bad at all. The worst time was when i hit a bank and had a massive crash. I was under the sail with my front foot it the strap, harness still hooked in, towards the front of the board and also with one leg through (yes through, punched a hole) the sail. Very tangled up and would have looked incredibly unco trying to free myself. Luckily didn't hurt myself badly that time, only the gear. Was a bit sore for a while though.

Hope you're back on the water soon! Personally, I'm in peak form.......injury-wise.....haven't been on the water for over 5 weeks, and there's no wind for the next week either!

Might book a plane ticket to QLD!

Mid-day on a p/hol....and I'm scanning over the forums....sad!

u boys winging about ur pissy little ankle injuries.
try 3 busted ligaments in 1 knee, cartilage damage, partial tear of muscle in hip and minor anke strain in one hit.
had 1 operation already.
been lying on a couch for 2 months already.
in my next op (hopefully no more than 6 weeks away) they might have to steal bits from both of my hamstrings to graft into my knee.
i no longer have a right calf muscle; totally wasted away.
i lost my job coz i cant do manual labour.
i had just recovered from a broken ankle which i only found out i had done when i did my knee coz prior x rays didnt show up bone floating there. took me 6 months to walk it off. it looked like sailhaks at the time.
if i'm lucky i'll be back on the water this time next year.

You think thats bad. I snapped in half and sticky taped myself back together only to break in half again. Kept me out of the water for 6 months and 1 day!

Geez Bertie! That's a very serious injury for just falling out of bed.
You must have been on the top bunk surely?
Maybe you could swap for the lower bunk.

Put Lanacane on it under a sticky plaster. Specially at night.
Available at most chemists.
It will come off when you sail but just put a new one on at night.

Bertie sounds like you have it bad. I have just been given a referral to have a bone scan to see if I have bone floating around as I still cant walk almost 2 weeks later and my X-rays were all clear too!

the dreaded sea ulcer...

i have a permanent hole in my ankle from years of bodyboarding as a teenager. i always got them from the wear due to the fins i used.

i am jumping to conclusions here but could yours be due to footstraps. maybe change footstrap brands so they rub somewhere different.

cheers
