This is very sad moment when we need to rid off : old sail, old board, mats etc.
How do you deal with that?
I have several sails several years old clogging my garage , old boards plenty of other junk.
Not worth to sell, not for my use anymore.
So how do you dispose sails ?
Cut into pieces and throw to rubbish bin ? Or arrange trip to waste tip?Do you have heart to take a knife and just cut sail into pieces ?

Leave it at the local sailing club or site for someone to pick up and use.

Remove batterns, clips, cams, pulleys, zips and save for repairs, open wheelie bin push to bottom

Sometimes there is stuff that just needs to go ( to the tip).Most of mine stuff is already so overused that I am not going to apologize to receiver for that quality of the free offering....even sending pictures may offend someone...but sometimes I kept sailing those...duct taped and ripped batons stuff.. time to have a rest...

Recycle, Battens and masts make great tomato stakes, sails shade sails, and boards coffee tables with mast legs

Here in Sydney some of our local tips rescue discarded windsurfing boards, cleans them up and has them on display in there recycle shop for sale.
Not what any of us would use but who knows somebody might get back into the sport. And beats landfill. I reckon a Bombora Trifin would have a half life of 10,000 years

Take it out for a spin at Jaws when it's pumping. Guarantee you won't have any gear left

Wait 10 years and sell it on eBay as "perfect beginner gear".

Give it to Scooty2222, he will win races on it for a few more seasons

As much as I don't like things going to landfill, it's the right thing to do in many cases.
I helped some friends get going with some 30+ year old original windsurfing gear. It was totally crap for learning. Admittedly not in great condition, but was the sort of stuff we learned on. Super heavy boards, baggy sails with abysmal performance and rope attached booms that kept coming undone. I had some modern learners gear there as well, and it was MUCH easier to set up and use. I would say that leaving historic learners gear out there for others to use is likely to be detrimental for getting new peeps into the sport.
Questions is, if you were learning, would you want to use it? If so, then give it away. If not, tip it.
