as posted by me previously i have been playing with making wider tail ends for my slalom and speed booms. They all worked ok for a short period but all eventually failed.

25 from the SRM GTC team came up with a very simple solution.

Basla wood shaped and glued inbetween the the tail end tubes and then wrapped in muti directional carbon 50mm wide tape. He used his in Shark Bay recently with no problems.

Here are some pics of two i have just finished. They are curing today and i will tidy then up tonight.

I have knocked up two home made wide tails, I purchased my carbon tail pieces from "Fergo" Greg Ferguson from NSW, Greg is a boat builder and knows a thing or two about carbon + he's an old speed sailor who is getting back into the sport again and has made some nice fins.
The first 2 pics are Greg's and I basically followed his instructions used milled fibre and little bit of filler to glue the plate into the boom arms then wrapped 3 layers of carbon round the tail top and bottom, came out real nice hung the boom up in the shed and then hung my 100kg of weight off it to see if it would hold, no problems rock solid.

Bender if the thing holds who cares, I could have blocked the clear coat back to get a mirror finish but not fussed about a few runs here and there, the real test will be on the water.
