Hey Guys,
Just got a question, i bought a second hand Gath Convertible Helmet the other day, and i have realised that it is a little bit too big... Is there anything i can do to enlarge it slightly, i was thinkin about puttin in bike foam pads in it.. Does anyone else have better ideas!

Cheers guys

Go into a windsurfing shop that stocks gaths and ask if they can order in some additional foam helmet inserts.
Failing that you can get inserts for skate style helmets that will fit inside the gath (you will need to peel back the gath inner skin and stick the inserts to the inside of the gath and then fold the gath insulation back over the top)

If you contact Gath ( gathsports.com/ ), you could ask them if you can buy some 'comfort strip' off them. It came with the helmet I got recently. Its like a sticky back neoprene rubber strip you could use to build up some size.

Gath helmets have replaceable foam strips inside - supplied new with 3 different sizes. If the helmet isn't too large (ie you should have got a smaller size) check the inside of the helmet - a grey strip should be going all the way around just above the lip with all the others black (depending how old it is). If so you should be able to buy a comfort strip pack (from any Gath supplier) with 6 and 7.5 mm strips. If yours currently has the standard 4.5mm strip in it get the strip pack and try the thicker ones.

Try building up your head size with gaff tape, keep wrapping it round until the helmet fits nice and snug.

Or take up kiteboarding for one season, that seems to increase the size of one's head.

or fall over a few times without it.

test after each falling though as your head may swell up to much

The Gath inserts would probably be less painful though

How about getting your eyebrows and nose pierced and using the little rings as tie-down points?

Fill with industrial foam gap fill - the stuff that expands as it hits the air and shove it on to make a mold.

Not sure if it will come off again. May need to wear with a swimming cap

I am sure theres a lot more that could be said about a little head and a big helmet am I am sure if this is not the right place.

stick on high desity foam strips from somewhere like, bunnings, you can find similar stuff to what gath use, or you could just get gath to send you some new stuff.

I wish I had hair to hide it!
