Cap? Floppy hat? Straw hat?

I tried one of those "French Legions" style caps once with the flap down the back but it made everything sound weird.

The FCS bucket style hats are pretty good. Brim not too wide that it flaps around except in high wind around 30+ And rarely comes off in a stack.

Edit : Should note, I've purchased quite a few windsurfing hats over the years... FCS bucket hat is the best I've used.

How about a helmet?

I got Gath few years ago and it's great. Seaspecs sunnies (same as seabreeze AFAIK) fit under easily and I save lots on sunscreen since I don't have to put it all over my head

Not too hot in the summer and keeps you warm in the winter. Plus you get extra protection in case of a crash.

Recently bought an Oneill bucket hat after I couldnt find my Billabong one, doesn't flap around or have the side fold down over your ears like the BB one did so happy with it. even has a little pocket you could put something like a key in (I dont use that). Have a gath helmet but only wear that when Im going to hit my head (or its cold weather).

Thin lycra diving hood ($12 from memory) + FCS bucket hat. Only need sunscreen on the lips, nose and cheeks. (Sunscreen is such a chore).

I have the FCS version lying around somewhere. Never wore it, not kooky enough for me. Give me the Lycra hood any day.

Agree with Querty ocean and earth indocap is the best I've used and I've probably had a dozen different hats over the years, flap is removable if you dont want to use it while windsurfing.

I agree, the FCS bucket hats work well. Also the FCS caps work well and seem better in stronger winds. I had a few others, billabong etc.. all too floppy for sailing.

I like the West one as it is full wide brim (more sun protection, esp late in the day) and the front of the brim is very rigid, no flapping

BUT I am about to go off about West in another thread so hmmm...
