Looking at buying a new harness with better distributed back support. My lower back has been a bit sore this season and my 3 year old harness is starting to age (slipping buckets/ nylon straps etc)

Looking at the Mystic harnesses with their adjustable tensioning system. Are there any owners here ?. What are your thoughts with durability of this feature ?. Will this mechanism survive being clogged up with sand ?

I have had a lot to do with Boa in the medical industry. The dial will handle sand pretty well and the cable is likely spectra. We've had people surf and dirt bike ride in mud with them. No great issue. The lace may need replacing and relacing every 12-18 months but that's usually easy. Normally you can get relating kits. Well you can for medical and snowboarding. Very common amongst snowboarding and prosthetics to self replace. They should be ok with salt water but would suggest a rinse off.

Boa dials are very resilient and the spectra should have about 80kgs of in-line tensioning capabilities so heaps for a waist harness.

That's good to know. Thanks. Interesting to learn that this design comes from prosthesis.

If the BOA system fails (line goes slack), would harness still be usable ?

boa actually started with snowboarding boots and then lots of cycling and mountain biking. Then went into footwear, medical etc. the dials can usually e replaced and have a great warranty. Most other sports would flog dials harder than a waist harness. If slack in sure it would still work just wouldn't hug as much.

I have had one for a few years and it is great. I rinse it after each sail and it keeps doing its job. This waist harness does not rise up like other older single point harnesses
