My windsurfing obsession has heavily influenced my work of late and I have made a collection of glass sail pendants:

12.5 sq cm, 6cm luff.
Non adjustable battens, no cams.
Very high skin tension and very stable shape.
Quick to rig, no downhaul required.
Low swing weight, shouldn't twist off even in very high gusts.
Rigs on a 41cm nylon coated stainless steel wire with 5cm extension chain.
Not recommended for use in water.

Rigging...

Just for fun I added a board to this one...

The sails and board are made of multiple layers of dichroic glass, art glass, glassline paint, dichro paper and dichroic glass stringer, kiln fused, coldworked and wrapped with coated copper wire.

Yeah my (non-sailing) wife reckons she'd wear one, and I'd dangle one from the mirror in my van, they're great (especially the coppery colour)

I have manufactured a few as you can see, but as they take me about 3 hours each I won't be going into mass production. I will make more if they are popular. I love making them.

Potentially I could even customise them to match your own sail brand... within reason

I hadn't thought of hanging them from a rearview mirror but that's a great idea. Most of the pendants look good from both sides, and being dichroic, the colours change depending what angle you view them from, and whether the light is transmitted or reflected.

PM me if you would like one.

Actually there are a few sail brands represented there...

Why thankyou so much. Artists love to have their work appreciated.
Can't beat dichroic glass for colour, that's why I choose that medium to work with.

well well well, look what Santa delivered

At the moment it's hanging off my van mirror, and to be honest, the pictures don't do these works of art justice. As different light plays across the pendant, and as the background contrast alters, the pendant shimmers, displaying a whole gauntlet of colours. I've got it rigged on some fishing line and a swivel, and as it slowly rotates it's constantly changing appearance.
I'll try and get some photos to show it in its different moods, if I can.

Disclaimer: I've never been a fan of fluffy dice, disco balls or anything else hanging off a mirror, but this is different.

Ok I said I'd try and get some photos, and yes the sailors are all out of focus. And yes my windscreen is dirty.

Great photos Easty.
I can see you have tried to capture the different colour effects of the dichroic glass. (reflected light orange through gold, transmitted light blue)
You just have to see them in real life though to really see the colour and sparkle.
Nice beach BTW.
