Hoping you can help, I used to windsurf heaps with my parents when I was young, and it's been a good 15 years, but I still feel like I can step on and pick up where I left off, and I think I'm ready to. Where's the best place to hire and get back into it before I go and buy a kit.
Have been looking at Balmoral beach here in Sydney but there's not a lot of wind and heaps of boats there, and out on Botany bay looks a little too windy for me to get the feel again.
Narrabeen lakes is pleasant and safe in any winds, good place for starting again, but beware of the cold water in winter. It is also close to the only windsurfing shop in Sydney - WindSurfnSnow, but i am not sure if they rent, try calling them.
Where about are you located? Do you have any windsurfing gear at all or are you starting from scratch?
Right now we are getting more westerly winds. There are not that many places that are beginner friendly in westerlies around Sydney.
It may be worth considering day trips away from Sydney to some of the lakes to go windsurfing. Westerlies in Narrabeen Lake are really hard to sail with incredibly gusty and inconsistent wind. Plenty of people do it but westerly winds are much better and more fun to sail in other lakes.
