This footage was taken in the end of May . It was a light autumn nor-easter .It's been a few years since I have used a sail that big, hadn't sailed for a while and was desperate and rigged a 5.2m,notice no white caps.
I do 90% of my sailing with a 4.4m. The Spock 540 I just learnt a few weeks ago.Always stoked to learn a new move, especially in winter. Haven't sailed the last few winters as I am a real chicken in the cold. But since in Paradise beach the water is only knee deep you can't get too wet.

Plus I have gotten used to sailing on my own without my kids as they are pretty busy with Uni now. So I now seem to spend more time practicing new tricks and skills.I seem to be mastering new tricks every few sessions now so I am more keen to get on the water whenever I can, even if it is cold. The insta 360 is also a great motivator . Its also great to crack a new trick and then be able to prove I really did it to Alex

.Of course tricks he already does, but sometimes I get some footage of something he may not have tried yet

I am 73 kg and use a 100 when I am learning new stuff. It's easier to learn new skills with a bigger ,more stable platform and lets you getaway with a smaller rig to make it even easier. Normally ride a 90. I have an older Starboard Flare 90 for strong wind(up to 35knots)it handles rough water really well.My Starboard Ignite 90 is a much faster board, sometimes too fast for an old guy when doing complicated manoeuvres and can't keep up with the board

.But for other things the extra speed is amazing

This photo is quite appropriate for today as Lewis Hamilton is back on Pole
