I'm looking for a freeride board and not sure on size to choose. I once had a 125L board and i weigh in at 72kg. I found this board to be a little too large at times. So i'm looking for something from 100L - 120L. My biggest sail (at the moment) is 6.5m no cam. There are a couple of options for sale at the moment so need some advice
I want to sail the river in Perth and maybye some light wind ocean. 15-18kn

Any suggestions

I've got a 2012 Naish Koncept (old version of starship) 110L you can use to get a reference.
I sail it with 5.3m to 7.0m. Waves, Flat and Chop. (34.6kts top speed.)
It's a bit beat up so go for your life

Trial for now. It's pretty beat up and needs some repairs on the nose. but i sailed it most of this season like this.
If you like it you can make an offer but i won't be expecting much for it.

I tried a 2013 koncept 90 recently and is different beast to the starship I think a starship 100 is the way to go it's a very versatile board . I've sailed it with 7mtr in basting mode (very fast board ) right down to 4.5 in big sea swell in wave mode . I'm 80kilo and the size and shape works well for me Naish starship is smooth and fast convertible board my other boards are atom 100 (light medium board ) and kode 94 try fin (wave all rounder ) .

115 tabou rocket is a little ripper .vince .good speed .
and ocean friendly .
i have a 2015 LTD .
I THINK Reg WSP.has one for sale $1200.

just checked ,its still there...its had a Tuttle box in plant for speed .

Another good board for your weight and conditions would be a 111 Starboard Carve. I'm 74 kg, and run a 6.4 on it most of the time. Ideal for 14-20 knots. This day was around 15-18 knots using a 6.4. Over 20 knots the board simply feels too big.

I'm on the jp 118 magic ride I'm 92 kg and its a great boards, but I'm heading to maui in july and will drop down to the new 103 as i did last year. they are great boards and easy to gibe.

I have missed out on a carve just recently.
Yeah i have my eye on a few boards Firemove 100 and a 110 and the Rocket 115. choices choices

Hey Vince. It's a great spot when there's wind, and really nice when there's none I was very lucky Paul had his drone up here on the day.

You can't go too wrong with the boards you mentioned. The 100 litre Firemove should be fine in the 15-18 knots you mentioned. Though the 115 Rocket is probably a better option.

Hi Vince

i am your weight and sail a 107 Freestyle board. I use either a 6.7 or 5.7 sail. Previously I used a 145 but after a couple of seasons with the shorter board I found that it could handle light winds too. My lighter weight helped. I don't do any freestyle tricks, strictly freeride for me, so I have a standard 33cm fin. Other pure freeride boards may be better if you want speed, but the F/S boards are very forgiving and easy to waterstart.

Vince, if you see a Patrik 125 Freeride don't discount it. At your weight and the wind speed you want to ride in I reckon it is on the money. It's a carbon top and bottom so it's very light for the volume. Narrow and long relative to current boards, it handles chop brilliantly. I'm about 90 kegs and can easily use this as my high wind board with a 6m sail. Also comfy with a 7.5m. In terms of range of the boards you mention I reckon it would be equivalent to a Rocket 115 - Rockets are also great boards. Hard to go wrong! Good luck!

There also has a 2017 115 starship in reggies.
both the rocket and starship will handle a good blow .
ive had my 115 rocket in 25 knot s no problem .
but in saying that the 105 rocket is also
good and a preferred choice if it hits 20 knots .
ocean sailing I prefer the extra float 115 ,also the river wind is up and down
and the extra float is handy as not to sink .and stay planning .

That looks like a great board. I reckon it will perform well in Perth conditions including the river and also for marginal days at your weight and according to the link looks like a freemove with enough freewave for ocean including Dutch Inn etc 15-18 knots etc.

Yep dutchies on the cards this coming season. but probably with the wave board unless the winds are marginal like you mentioned 15-18
