G'day guys. I was wondering if anyone has used the forward wip impact vest with a waist harness? Does it sit on top of the harness ok or is there not enough room for the hook?
I've not used the specific vest, but i can tell you from experience that if it sits over the harness then it never goes well.
the movement, and slight expansion of the hook away from the body from the sail load pushes the vest up, turns you into tommy turtle. its not a pleasant way to sail around.
unless youre ok with a using a low seat harness instead (im not) i think your best bet might be one of those hard impact vests where you could go harness over the bottom of the vest.

thanks for that Shannon.
Yes I use one with a Severne waste harness no issues.
Yes the WIP vest works great with a waist harness. The lower back section of the WIP is very thin so your waist harness goes over the top. advantage over most impact vests is it is rated 50N
Thanks guys. Sounds like it might be ok with a waist harness. I'll have to track one down and have a go. I'm sick of the basic life jacket I'm wearing now.
Where'd you guys get them from? Over the counter or online? Much better option than what im currently having to use if it can sit under the harness and its 50N rated

Thats the one I was thinking. The straps don't flop all over the place? Unfortunately there is no way I can get my hands on one without ordering and it's one of the most expensive. I've had other vests which rode up so I've been not using one but now I've gotten a lot leaner and not having the natural flotation has made rig positioning etc more work.
Can anyone confirm padding protection for the side of the rib cage? Photos I've looked at appear to be no better on the side than the NP, but the Neo photo posted by GH above maybe does?

Stretchy on the Forward WIP website if you scroll through the pictures it shows the pads (which look to be removable) that are there for rib protection.
