being a windsurfer for 35 years now ( 45yrs old now) and consired as an old school windsurfer, i currently place the footstraps on the outer place on my kode86 and kode wave72 , and i was wondering if i would be better off by placing the front footstraps on the inner side , what are the prons and cons.
your advice is much appreciated

Tuning devices on boards and sails are there to optimise the rig for the sailors requirements.

There are numerous permutations!

Footstrap position affects the trim of the board, as does fin size and riders weight.

So depends if you want to trim for speed on dead flat water, sailing with small fin in thick weed, maneuverability on the waves or just bump and jump in chop.

If you tell us what sort of sailing you're doing, somebody may have an idea what effect moving the straps in will have.

Why did you not like the Kode as a twin ? Because it was too loose and /or spins out / won't track?

If you have straps outboard, you are maybe loading up the fins too much laterally...... and also twins are looser anyway.

as far as twins i m using the board on pure wave conditions. The reason of not being fond of twins is that in carving or wave riding the board spins and does not have that grip when curving on wave like single or quad ( forgot to mention that i also had a quad starboard 75 that sold it as found it dead slow and heavy).
Now to footstraps position, if moving the front straps in will the board spin less i.e when jibing on a wave aggresively or wave riding?.
In addition how will it feel when jumping?

Do you mean move them forward as I dont think wave boards have the option to move them in. If it does I dont think moving them in will affect spin out.
Try buying some new fins of a reputable brand or try moving your current fins backwards to the tail of your board.

I only sail in the waves, and I prefer having my front foot strap all the way forward when riding the waves, and the other front foot strap farther back for sailing back out to sea. You get better control on the waves if you are more up on the board (weight more forward), so that's why I like that strap forward, to achieve that. When sailing back out, you want speed, so farther back works better for that strap. It's a fairly common setup for people who sail mostly in the waves. And it's a holdover from the asymmetrical wave boards that used to be popular. Front foot straps that are side to side, are more for bump and jump, and most other kinds of sailing.
Also with a twinzer, which I have, I find it better to have my rear foot in front of the rear foot strap while on the wave. You really need to have your weight more forward with a twinzer, more than most other fin setups, during wave riding.
Am I totally sold on twinzers? Not really, it's only one of several boards that I use in the waves, they do ride different. But my foot strap positioning is the same on all my wave boards.
You may notice that when you look at pics of the pros riding at Hookipa, you see mostly quads and thrusters, and even singles, you rarely see twins out there anymore.

It's soooo mucch depend on your preference and level, there is no magical position. On my kode 87, my front strap is way fwd and my back straps is in the second last screw. For twin...i love twin on big board(87 is big for me, 70kg), the bottom is ok on the kode but the top turns on mushy stuff is quite good!!! I hate their stock fins however, too big!

Nooooooooooooo!
Only when on a wave, a real wave, steep with some speed, but not so fast that you can't work the wave. I find the board much more responsive that way.
