Recommendations on a decent footstrap that keeps it's shape and allows for a wide foot. I find my foot constantly gets caught in either front and/or back, especially when going into a gybe. Also worried I'm going to damage my ankle as it's managed to get stuck a few times now after a stack.

Footstraps are fully extended atm. I'm thinking I need something with less padding.

What are Dakine straps like.... the Primo in particular?

Dakine are very good in my opinion. I have used them for a good number of years and i find them comfy, they keep there shape and they are easy to adjust. Not to sure about the Primo, Im not to sure even what i have

I have the Primo and they're really comfy and give good support. But if you can find them I'd shell out the extra $ for the "Supremo". The difference is that the core is made of silicon instead of the standard webbing = VERY PLUSH!

Have you tried making the straps wider at the base by screwing the straps into different inserts on your board?

agree with bb. i am a dakine fan also.

for freeride the most comfortable i have are the core contour. only problem is they aren't adjustable on the fly.

i noticed they have the core contour adjustable. that would be my pick.

the cabrinah kite board straps hold their shape well & are very comfortable.
quite a few guys on formula boards are using them, myself included.

I used Dakine for a year, and they were great, i have quite a wide foot to, How ever they were a pain with my foot getting stuck, and adjusting them where a real task.

dont get my wrong Dakine are great, But last year i changed to MFC footstraps, they are super comfy, Quick adjusts, Nice and narrow (compared), and with the adjust system it uses, it means it can we set verry wide, or narrow with out getting folds in the materail.

Wrong...if you are sailing wave, freestyle or freeride a big strap is much better than tight. Will give you a better feel and control, and get you more centred over the board for jumps and wave riding etc.

That may be the case but I know a guy in Perth who got the worst break the ambo guy had ever seen from getting a foot caught in the strap. Everyone has freedom of choice though...

Cheers all.... appreciate the recommendations. Previously I had a Fanatic which had great foot straps in as far as they would keep their shape well and had ample room for my foot which would go in quite a way (could see webbing on all toes from above). I never had any problems with these, feet would come out easily. Would also never have my feet still in the straps after a stack like what occasionally happens now with my current board/straps.

Will look into the straps mentioned

Could be because the strap was too tight or too loose, if your foot is going in a long way it mustn't go all the way thru. In a wipe out if you go thru to your ankle, you could snap the lower leg. If it's too tight then the ankle can be damaged. It should be just loose enough to come out easily in a wipe out/crash/catapult.

I found the new Dakines on my AB boards to soft so i can get my foot in but not out....
I changed them to the standard JP straps.

I like the fact that they feel "precompressed" and firm.

Tested a JP xcite 6 months ago and really liked the straps (and board). Very similar to my previous Fanatic straps.
