My first set of Neil Pryde sails were Tri Radials.
Following year, I went to Gaastra Speed Slalom, 3 cambered.
My buds were using Neil Pryde WARP Slalom, also 3 cambered.

Heeeey... I thought they made dramatic improvements every year?! 22 years of being lighter, more low-end power, more control, and a higher top end. They wouldn't lie to us, would they?

Every sailmaker, every year, has been saying that.
That's why one of my favorite sails I use is several 1997 North Convertible/Raves. It's competitive with anything currently made, bar none, and mostly used with a 40% carbon North mast and an aluminum boom. Sizings 4.2, 4.7, 5.2, 5.3, and 6.

After one design and a couple of bombora sails I was very proud of this little beauty. 7.0m, I think it was a prototype NP warp speed. Three cams I think, Velcro cam pockets.

I just thought sail designers were a bit slow, like why does it take 8 years to get the EVO 8 right and the R8 right , imagine if Toyota had to tell everyone that they had to bring a new model out every year because they F't up the year before. No wonder the sport died because they kept telling people as soon as they bought new gear, it was substandard by the following year...........

Nice sail agrid ...

Check this 95-6 prisma .safety bay .thought I was the fastest man on water .just don't drop it in the water .
the luff was a 30 litre water tank .only way the water could come out was ,the top and bottom and a few little holes near each 4 battens...
not many houses on them hills then .

OK fair enough I don't speak French but I watched this due to many replies, hoping it would show me something.
So far all I see is use of perspective around the 1min point to make it look like the old sail is faster...... then no side by side, no real comparo, and then lots of poor scratching DJ music with nothing. Not really a 22 y/o sail vs a new one at all.

Am I missing something...?

Getting back to the post.l think the vxs were way ahead of their time. Then the z1s came along. I think neil pryde were right into racesail design 20 years ago. Nothing has really changed since maybe lighter & more expensive & groovy graphics. Good marketing for cashed up buyer's

Something like that, but hey, better stop sidelining the topic, what's the topic again? NP bashathon? Pretty much see that all the time in these forums. People don't seem to realise that competition makes a healthy market and if you're a windsurfer In AUS you need the market to be as big as possible to offer us some choice here in a country that is a miniscule percentage of the world market. Go QLD!

I picked up a virtually new North Prisma 6.5 last year for free. I get most of my sails for free, old ones, of course.
Sailed it in 6.5 conditions, winds around 15-20 mph, and it worked fine. No problems whatsoever, and I even dropped it to lower my booms a bit, and bag out the outhaul for more power.
But I"ve been using multi cammed sails since 1985, so it was easy to lift out of the water for me.

Heres how i returned to sailboarding late 2016 . NP Vx 5.8m. In great condition.Rigs on a NP 460 Carbon 60 sdm. Great little sail, stable n powerful. Would use it more if it suited my weight n average sailing conditions.
