Hey all,

Another noobie board repair question, Just got this Jp X Cite approx 2007 for cheap. It's in decent condition save this huge ding on the nose, (original owner used it about 3 times and then the mast hit the front of the board, they glassed it and then just left the board in storage for the last 9 yrs)

I was gonna just sand back and put another coat of resin on it just to be safe and pain't over, is this the best option for a repair like this? It's a wood sandwich so I don't know if the water that got in 9yrs ago has done the rounds on its insides.

I think you are onto it, take off the excess, one layer of cloth over and fair it in. Looks solid but dunno about that right hand side of pic #2 and 3? Looks like not good contact with rail?
If you are redoing it its worth drilling a hole and leaving it nose down in the sun just in case

As for paint, it it is the matte white rails, British Paints "Paint n Prime" i think its called, flat white in a rattle can from Bunnings is a pretty damn good match.

Why would someone do a repair like that? No attempt at fairing at all. It's beyond belief.

Some people never got to play with leggo when they were young.
I suppose its a good thing , its how one gets a cheap bargain. Good board , easyish fix .

Looks careless. Might be polyester. Maybe check for a void.

Yeah, I agree. I bought a Starboard Carve years ago where someone had done similar. They wacked a glob of polyester fibreglass over the top. It wasn't pretty, but the board was cheap. It didn't create a cavity though and was an easy repair with epoxy.
