Is there any way possible to take the blade out of a tuttle fin (Damaged head) and placing inside another Tuttle casing?

I got 2 select fins - one with damaged Tuttle casing but blade is fine, the other fin the blade is cactus but the tuttle casing is fine.

basically trying to salvage 1 fin from two broken ones. Or am I just wasting time?

It's interesting that he cuts the tuttle head into two halves. I would have thought that would have been a challenge to then get to the right thickness. My experience with fitting tuttle fins is that they can be very finicky with the fitting.

I haven't ever completed a fin reboxing, but I thought I could grind out enough from the tuttle head with an angle grinder, to then give me enough space to install the fin blade, filling the voids with glass soaked in resin, and then filling again once set... but I have never done it either..

My approach would be to fix the damaged head, it's to hard to swap blades in a head.

I'd just fibreglass and bog the damage, making sure the nuts are securely held.

Or you could make a mold from the good head, then use that to fix the damaged head

I agree, and making a silicone mold is very easy, just buy the 2 parts one from a craft shop, and pour in a plastic tub where you put your fin head, no need for mold release with silicone

I'll just buy a new fin

This is not one of the older select-multi base things is it? They had a system where a fin could be used in different bases to suit different boxes. That was relatively easy to swap over, but I had assumed that they were no longer used.

Could the damaged fin be ground down to fit a Select Multibox?

The one with the good Tuttle casing is an elite S12 Slam
The one with a damaged tuttle casing is an S1 Pro

ideally I'ld like to put the S1 pro into the casing of the S12 Slam

Very easy to make a silicone mould of the good one, then use goop and the mould to fix the old one. If you can't be stuffed, I'll have it

Hey AusMoz, I'm in the camp of fixing the damaged base. Without making a mould you can rebuild a crumbled or broken ends, 40 or 80 grit sandpaper to rough the surface then use stiff plastic (from stationary shop) so it recreate the end for resin/fibre mix.

With the damaged fin, most probably damaged tip you can sand the tip and get a fin foil shape that will work and not spin out. It takes time but a great skill.

You can use select multibox head. This is what i do, i buy cheap fins with broken head, i rout to fit select box, powerbox for me, and glue them with epoxy+silica+glass powder. Work fine for me.

From experience select fins tend to fall out of their heads, 2 now have done that to me, search back through the older post where I put some pics up. Ended up putting pins through the boxes to stop it happening.

Nowadays select multiconic head are sold with screws that go through fiber

For my cheap fins i try to match original shape by routing old broken tuttle head, then i glue select head box with reinforced epoxy then i put srews and nuts.
