Hi Breezers, brought a good used fin, Tectonics (Good Wing) 42 cm. Does anyone have any knowldge about these fins.l.want to use on a isonic 110 litre. will it work.
I'm after control in chop & a bit of speed

The only way to know is to try it yourself in your conditions.

Unfortunately, the question is a but like: 'How long is a piece of string?'

Yes, the fin will work. yes it will give you a 'bit of speed'. Yes it will give you a 'bit of control' in chop. How much that 'bit' is, only you can tell. Sorry.

Edit: I must add, i'm not trying to be a smart arse here. Just trying to explain that there are far too many unknowns and variables to get a good answer. Even if someone has tried that same fin in that size in the same board, all our experiences are different depending on the skill levels, the sails used, the specific conditions you sail in and the particular fins you have compared it with within those parameters. I'm certain it is a 'good' fin as it is a known good brand. How good for your conditions is only really something you can answer, but the chances are probably pretty good it will work well.

Edit 2: I have a had a couple of Isonic 110's and used similar style fins between 36cm and 42cm with good results depending on the sail size.

Good luck with Centrelink..

Might be a bit big for the board. I would say a 36-38cm would be a better match for that size board, also depends on sail size, 7.7-7.0-6.3 would be optimal sizes along with skill level and water conditions/wind strength.

I have a couple of these fins ,great fins and fast ,the biggest i use on my 110 Patrik is 40 ,with a 7,9 ,the techs don't have that bigger area on them so I'm guessing you will get away with it if the water is flat ,but agree with others a bit big ,in chop you generally want the board to sit down rather than rail up .

Same as others have mentioned, the answer isn't always that straight forward. If your a kit geek like me, it becomes even more tricky to answer!!! Things like rider weight, water state, sail size, type, make and settings, wind strength........

But basically, Tectonic make great fins. The iS110 ran for 3 or 4 years, the tail width (OFO) is around 50cm so a 42cm should be fine for bigger sails in lighter winds. If the wind picks up, a 38/37cm would probably be more controllable.

But, yes, the fin you've bought is a good'n

I had one of these. 34cm, used it with Futura 100L, and it was great. Unfortunately the bolt thread let go and I lost it st Pelican Point.
Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one again.
