I've got a mast coming from The Nether Lands,
Here's the Fedex tracking so far. It's chronologically back to front, so you have to start at the Bottom and work up.
So any bets where it'll go next? I was hoping once it left Heathrow, it would be Aus bound.

"Anyone heading for Australia"
"Yeah, I think Franz in Germany's heading down, send it there"
Germany, "Franz not here but Manny in Spain is going there via Singapore, send it to him"
Singapore "Yeah, Manny came through but there wasn't any room on the plane so we sent it to Jim Bob in the US"
etc, etc

Seriousky, buying a mast from overseas... Single mast or a truck load? Freight and duty would be enormous for a single item?

Wouldn't you be better off buying local? If it breaks?

Indeed good question. I thought it was coming in the container with all the new KA sails, but very surprised to hear it's coming by air.
Maybe there's a truck load of masts bound for Aus and it's just accompanying them.

It's just departed Charles De Gualle, where will it land?

Decrepit....The sails have come direct from Sri lanka...the mast is from the KA warehouse in the Netherlands as they are made in Europe.

It's a race to see what I get first, the mast or the sails.

No, she is in the Netherlands...the Factory organise the shipping. We are expecting the delivery tomorrow , some repacking to do then we will distribute...it will be sent Thursday at the latest.

Talitha is the fin guru amongst other things....builds the Tribal fins and does an amazing job.

Well fedex says I'll get the mast Friday, so if it manages to break out of the circle this time, it could beat the sails. if not it's a toss up.
Any odds anyone?

It's not unusual to see weird stuff like that...it will turn up.

International shipping is weird , I get stuff in USA from UK or Euro, it never comes direct. A huge shipping center is in the NL.
However your surely must be wrong. NL FRA UK FRA Uk UK FRA,
its not Heathrow UK its Stansted UK.

FWIW to import for personal use to US, no import duty on windsurf gear, boards sails etc.

I had a small parcel posted from a shop (that I couldn't get to during business hours) one suburb away from me in Melbourne that went via Perth!

Nup I have it right, that was a direct "copy- paste", "Poyle GB" is Heathrow, so it gone from Stanstead to Heathrow.

But it's now reached Singapore, that's only a few hours from Perth, if it doesn't go to Sydney or Melbourne first.

Mike when I ordered my KA gear from the Netherlands it arrived quicker than something that was posted the same day from the eastern states.

but Australia Post are the only couriers that will get something from Perth to Sydney on a Saturday night.
You try everyone when you are at Sydney International departures and you have brought the wrong passport

It has to go to Austria from Singapore and back again before you get it Mike

Bought a 54cm fin from WSP Tuesday lunchtime. It arrived at Golden Beach Qld Wednesday lunchtime!!! Fastest delivery EVER!!! Howd they do that????
1 DAY WEST TO EAST.

I suspect the package went Neatherlands to France on road, from there to GB and then onwards to Dubai and Australia.The additional references are most likely two separate systems that picked up tracking of the package. I am also guessing the actual routing is based on free air cargo capacity vs fastest delivery time. I doubt this is done by a human but rather based on logistics algorithms.

And yes Australia Post seems to be extra slow when it comes to shipping in comparison... I have had Yallingup to Perth take 8 business days... while a shipment from US East Coast arrived in 4 days. Nothing though like a post card I sent from Mexico to Germany a few years back that took a full 6 months.
