For me my special place is Harrington on the mid North Coast of nsw , , have good memories of epic highs and sailing with great friends and being totally crushed as well

It dosnt matter about how fast you go at Harrington , even doing under 30 knots is so cool and a great place to sail , hopefully one day it turns on for me and i can get a pb there

It's not about speed Mark , it's about the walk out carrying all your gear , rigging up and getting sandblasted on the bank , then the super flat water snd the vibe of the place and the other guys sailing with you

I've got a lot of places that are special but happy valley stands out to me. Windsurfing was invented because of places like happy's

Photos of Harrington 2011 , how it has changed

(1) Trial Bay. Mainly because it's local, and very challenging at times. Sweet in a nor-easter with low tide. Waves are a bonus.
(2) Harrington. Only been there twice, but mate, great place, hanging to go there again next decent southerly.
(3) Queens Lake. S-wester, great fun on the weed / mud bank.
(4) Budgy. Only been there 3 times in sub 20 knot breezes, but can see this place would be terrific with a nice breeze.

Green Island, Cairns is gotta be on the top of my list.

Yeah GI is special but Arlington reef was something special again. Oh and Yeppoon of course

In order of preference

1: Noumea. Sailed 10 days in 14. Warm water, strong wind and heaps, and I mean heaps of other sailors around - a great vibe, truck loads of new hire gear. take nothing, they even give you a harness to use, just rock up with boardies and a rashie

2: Lake George: Sailed 15 out of 20 days I was there in Feb 2015. The water state was choppy, but the wind was so solid and so consistent at cockies. Great for TOW. Don't ever get that wind strength, consistency or TOW at home. Bloody BIG lake and plenty of room

3: Budgie: super flat water, and acres of playground with other like minded sailors.........only sailed it once, but will be back this winter.

4: Middle Rock: cross onshore easy wavesailing spot. always someone else out, even if it is a kite nows days. surf not usually out of control, so a reliable place to get a wave

5: Queens Lake: walk in with small gear to the mud bank and walk out. Wind drops, no worries, walk out. Super shallow and can get flattish at low-mid tide.

6: Harrys: clear and clean water, flattest water I have sailed (except for budgie which is rivals it), and just fun and wholesome sailing back and forth on a southerly. Shame the run is getting shorter and shorter, but who knows, it may come back better and longer than ever...
