Im thinking of a new JP xciteride.
Should i go wood over Es ?
Apart from the weight ( 900gm) is there much difference to the ride and strength ?
Ive heard that wood is a softer more forgiving ride. So is wood softest ( slowest ) then ES then carbon ?
And what about impact strength ?

Any ideas , anyone ?

Go the carbon. As its a freeride board even in carbon it should be a reasonably smoothe ride and should perform better than the other options. Nothing wrong with wood though especially if you're after a slightly softer ride. Treat all boards on dry land with respect and abuse them on the water. If you want indestructible buy an old Tiga

Thanks rogerswin but they don't make it in carbon , I was only using carbon in reference to stiffnesses .
I was hoping someone has ridden the ES and wood for a real life comparison.
Has anyone ridden a Majic Ride in ES and wood ? Same brand and I presume same construction.

Xcite ride FWS best board I have ever used. Lots out there, but this model suited my Gumby use until I wore it out

Rode an older Xcite ride 135 FWS. Great board.
Tried the ES but not as responsive and seemed to feel more bumps and chop even though slightly heavier. Had no problems with strength of the FWS either even as a 93kg rider in ocean and small hops off waves.
As rogerswin mentioned the carbon is the ducks. Differenct all around. Maybe consider another make of board in a carbon model instead if you are after higher performance (budget dependant)?

I've had experience riding "tough" and wood construction Fanatic Gecko boards back to back on holiday. I'm no expert, but the tough construction boards simply felt "dead" in comparison. IMO, unless you are running a windsurfing school, I wouldn't bother with "tough" construction boards.

I loved my Tiga 275. It was dropped on the freeway at 110km/h. Just slipped off the back of the trailer :( A bit of sandpaper for the gravel rash and the board was ready to go. No repairs needed; even the footstraps were fine!

Great boards. I had a 250 wave but prefered my bic alto. Am I realy that old.
