I am looking to replace my very badly constructed free race board and looking for a Slalom / Free race that's going to last. As I have limited funds and not able to replace regularly I don't mind if it is slightly heavier than all the so called pro versions. Looking for a light wind option 72-75 wide . I have seen some good buys in the slalom boards but I am apprehensive due to their light weight construction. Are there any brands out there that actually promote strong construction at the cost of weight?

For strong construction Carbon Art all the way - no weight gain necessary :)

For your question the consensus in this forum is consistently Carbon Art, so yes. I don't favour Carbon Art (and probably favour another brand), but they are reasonably priced too.

I grabbed a second hand 133 litre futura in winter to progress onto. Like it so far very quick to plane with a lot less effort but a definite step up in skill level required from me. Up hauling is a bit wobbly compared to the aircraft carrier i was using last season. I've catapulted a few times and with a nice solid severne nose protector on it I'be not caused any damage so far.

Hey Nigel, you know I love my Carbon Arts, I've never seen their freeride but if going to NZ like you do from time to time I'd start there. Having said that I think the Futura is a very good choice also, I had one once and was happy with it.
