I'm wondering about trying a Duotone but that "spike" sticking out of the leech seems a bit unusual to me and I wonder if it might end up impaling me. I have no idea what purpose it might serve other than a facsimile of the graphic design.I recently tried a foil and lightly banged into the darn thing with my shin while walking it to deeper water. It left me bleeding a bit. Maybe I'm just accident prone. Shopping for shin guards ...

Crap hanging out the leech is reminiscent of the Gaastra Heatwave with its 'flames'

Why oh why

If you're worried about that, I'd avoid the Ezzy Hydra then.....

What "spike" are you referring to ?

Oh, - you mean the laminal vortex inducer ?

Yeah, it is a game-changer for 2021. Borrowed heavily from F-19 fighter jets and humpback whale dorsal fins and after 2 years testing across the world the LVI (as those in the know call it) gives the 2021 sails a much larger range, more power, reduces swing weight and increases stability whilst improving sensitivity. With the LVI a 3.5 sail has the same power and drive as an old 5.3 but using a shorter mast and with a larger tuning range. Best suited to both foiling and strong wind freestyle whilst providing a new level of protection against airborne viruses.

For 2022 the LVI will be moved further up the leach and made of carbon to improve the apparent wind performance of the sail. For 2023 it will be coloured red making it even faster. At that point the 2021 LVI will be considered obsolete.

Are you sure?

I thought the vortex inducers needed to be closer to the leading edge to provide adequate airborne virus protection.
