For those who might be interested, did a re-grip on my 107 today. This was my process.....

Started out with 180 on the orbital which made me quickly realize how thin the original grip was when i started sanding through the decals in no time at all. So gave it a very quick once over to knock it down as flat as possible without sanding through too much.

Taped up and finished sanding with a medium sponge block. Thinking the Medium would be course enough for a good key in for the new coat.

Dusted down with air and cleaned thoroughly with degreaser.

Sprayed it with a coat of Wattyl colourthane clear top coat ( i have this product on hand as i am a cabinetmaker and do my own finishing in house)Its a bit of an experiment to see how it will hold up in this situation, it is an extremely hard and durable finish on furniture so will see....
I used the International intergrip and applied it through a normal suction spray gun with 2mm tip, it flowed through surprisingly very well!!
As i was applying the grip aggregate i soon realized i had been a bit light on with the clear coat and was having trouble with the grip not hanging on. So rushing around with clear coat gun in one hand and grip gun in the other managed to even it up fairly well i think!!!
Next time i would defiantly just put a heavier coat of clear on to start with, was spraying through 1.4mm tip so a reasonably heavy coat would still dry quite thin i expect.
Gave it a bit of a light cover coat as per video above, and i think it looks the goods.
Will see how it feels when it drys, and the real test will be on the water no doubt.
