I am looking for a midsized freeride/freerace board. I came across these two boards, I am a bit hesitant as the damage on both cover a rather big area. Neither are repaired professionally but by the owners.

What do you think?

It depends upon the actual damage under the repair. I would want to give the boards a good going over first, is the repair likely to lift off and ask the owner what the damage was.
I've repaired small damage on my boards and it looks a lot worse now than what it actually was.

It certainly drops the price. The main thing would be if its water tight. There is a test you can do over night but not something you could do when inspecting a board.



I tend to ask myself is this damage a lot worse than the typical damage I do to my boards. If not then I don't mind as long as I have reasonable confidence it was repair wellish and did not take on lots of water, hard to know also. Some people would try comparing current weight to manufactured weight, but I think you need to take on litres of water to make a meaningful difference in weight :))))
