I have an older blue line severne mast, it has a plastic collar on the bottom section at the ferule that has cracked.

Any one know how these masts are constructed? Trying to figure out if the collar is structural or if is just to a collar for the ferule. Rather not bin an other wise good mast.

Totally agree, but why has it cracked????? That implies it has had a load on it, which could mean trouble with the join itself. Definitely needs checking.

I'm fairly sure from ones I saw that it is structural and not plastic..... well, not a weak thermoplastic thing, a proper plastic

If its structural (I suspect) it would not be hard to cut it off and make a new one from old mast section of the right dia and bung it on with a good epoxy (not Bunnings...)

Contact Severne. You may tear your sail a little in case it snaps.
