Just a quick question for anybody with these footstraps. The marketing blurb states they come with a "twist control system" included but all I got was a couple of stainless steel plates for each strap which stop twist to some extent but not completely. Am I missing some parts?

I think they only stop twisting if you use 2 screws each end.

Works with any brand pretty much. It's marketed as anti twist because of some sort of rubberized texture below where they screw on. The plates help distribute the load.

Starboard has the best anti twist system that does work, no need for the trick in the video.

My pleasure! Do you have those clips pictured in the video? You'll still need to get them pretty tight. Inserts are plastic so it's good to tighten them, let them cool down a little while tightening others and give them a final squeeze. As the pads get compressed they might require a touch more torque after one session or a few days. Then should no longer move.

They usually come with fanatic or jp straps. You have old ones?

I should have posted same 6 years ago. In windsurfing you kinda get used to the fact that almost everything you buy needs to be adjusted in some way or another and that applies to dakine cool footstraps :) which are made from nice but slippery material that have zero antitwist.However, footstraps from Fanatic, Quatro, Goya etc often come with antitwist plastic thingies glued right to the bottom plus special material
on the bottom and work great.
If you buy antitwist thingies separately often they use adjacent hole for axtra grip which may limit the range of your footstrap distance adjustment.. so buy one that clip on.

Personally, I use supremos only for back footstraps as i have limited number of plastic hacks to make them really antitwist. :)

The board is a Starboard so I have found I could potentially use the K9 antitwist inserts. Hopefully these will work with the Dakine straps. Thanks for your suggestions everybody!

Those should have come with the board. They work great! Be wary of hole depth were you to change things from stock. When I checked the depth of my starboard boards (sorry for the stutter) they were quite deep, which is nice.

Instead, it is a hard plastic material which isn't soft enough to take the spikes. Thanks for your help all the same.

Not if you use the teardrop shaped one, that has one peg to go in an adjacent hole. There is always and adjacent hole...

I've never had an issue with twist when using that style underneath and a rectangular claw washer on top. Dunno why companies need to stuff around with things that are simple and work well.

If I understand right, this part is clipped on. You can try prying it off by sliding a flat screwdriver under the plastic part, it should pop. Then you use the metal washer instead with the K9 underneath.

The plastic part is incorporated into the strap. I've had another look and the amount of twist isn't too bad. Worth keeping them on as they are way better than the supplied Drake straps!

Ok a photo will help us if you still have the issue.

I find the footstrap twisting issue odd because on all my straps, either fitted with andti-twist devices or without, I never experience any twisting at all. (screws undoing is another matter!)
