Could be mistaken but that is the first video I've ever seen of Guy Cribb and the first thing that came to mind was "what a prat".
And I'm sure you thought the same thing when you first saw a video of that Naish fella.
The speed factor was the thing that first attracted me to this sport decades ago. Maybe I'm shallow or have a short attention span, but the old style America's Cup, when they didn't wear helmets, was kind of, er, somnulent. It was only ever worth watching if it got over 15 kts.
These Extreme 40's, 49ers, AC45's are basically doing in front of crowds what we've been doing for years pretty much out of the public eye, powering up and cranking. Mr Cribb's appearance ain't a bad reminder of what the punters on the sidelines can get into for a few thousand bucks (and some time on the water) compared to hundreds of thousands. And mixing it with the big boys I think gives us a little more credibility as a real sailing discipline.
Still can't work out how one guy (no pun intended) needs, what, 8 sq. metres?, while 4 guys need 100+.
