I am about to borrow a car with a "clucker" key. I have never owned a car with a "clucker" key. I normally keep my key around my neck.

What the hell do you do with a cucking flucker key when you go sailing?

As it is not my car I am not interested in hiding the key on the car. What to do?

Anyone know of any smart storage devices? Hang around neck, tuck into harness, attach to rig???

If you cant think of a serious solution to my problem I will entertain creative "outside the square" type solutions. Coz I'm stumped.

Or take the clucker off the ring and lock it in the car using the key, then put key on string around your neck. I'm assuming a clucker is a beep beep thingy?

May not be a good idea to do this as the key may also have a transponder in the head. They don't really like water.Depending on the car it can cost up to a thousand bucks to replace the key...more if you lose the keys all together!!
Aqua pack or surf lock are the go....Don't even breath heavy near that key..

Wear it around your neck as per usual. If water damage occurs deny taking it into the water.

My car came with clucker key and a spare without the clucker which I take windsurfing.

It's quite easy to get a dummy key cut. I leave my real key in the car and lock up from drivers door which centrally locks the lot. Your alarm should auto arm after 30 sec's (or so). No good for keyless entry though I guess.

I've done this quite a few times. Doesn't seem to do anything to the key. The key has a microchip in head to disable the immobiliser. Still works.

However some keys also have the keyless entry built into the head of the keys (with buttons on the key itself), I think those would be easily damaged by water.

Yep the key is a beepy clucker thingamabob built into the non-pointy endy bit of the key piece of cr@p.

Damn modern cars. They obviously didn't consult with the watersport community before introducing these "labour saving" Beyond 2000 devices.

Surflock looks the goods...thanks

Definitely get a blade cut, under 5 dollars, and leave the expensive key in the car. I learnt the hard way, $100 for a new key, since found out I got away cheaply newer cars models are very expensive.

Just make sure you hide the key in the car real good.
A clever crack head might break in and find your key?
I doubt that very much?

I use the dummy key around the neck (blank key cut without the transponder) and keep the real key locked in the car trick. Works for me.

hey Mate
Save money forget the aqua pack, all i do it use two sealable sandwhich bags from wollies, key in the first, seal it then put it into the second bag and seal that one. Make sure you get all the air out of it tho : )

then i just put the bag under my wetsuit ( in a location which wont be damaged, or damage you when you stack).

Ended up getting a Surflock.

Good thing is the key is accessible to others who know the combo. For example I went for a surf with my mrs the other week down at Torquay. Water was about -20 degrees, she got cold pretty quick and was able to get into the car for a cuppa while I stayed out.

Think I paid about $50 at the local surf shop. Pretty happy.
