Hey, 2 of my recent captions just got red-thumbed in 5 minutes?? Were they so bad, or was somebody trying to prove a point? Disgruntled kiters, perhaps?

I probably shouldn't say anything...

BTW, as an impartial observer, I think Bondy should be allowed to win his own comp...

It was after this hoedown with Sakura Yama that Mikey switched to ballroom dancing.
It wasn't that they didn't step on his feet as much but the recovery time was better.

when it comes down to it, isnt this what we are all really thinking?????

the influence of illegal betting syndicates on sumo was becoming more transparent.

Been at the snow for a few days, so just caught up with the captions tonight.

So far I'm liking quite a few. in particular,
Stamps, Notwals, and Grumples

Willy, read my lips - You can't win your own caption comp.
Sure, you can put in a caption and even get some green thumbs, ('cos the whole thing is just for fun), but the whole idea is you get to pass the baton on to another worthy recipient.

Come on, if he has the best one, why not? It's not like he can force people to vote for him, is it? It's not a matter of life and death, y'know?

First there were The Rules, then there were No Rules; now there's only one rule...who decided this?



Actually, this matter aside, I have a suggestion which might improve future comps (or improve some people's chances, anyway...)

I say we do away with the thumbs altogether, and require voters to actually post their opinion of which was the best capton. Why? Because of the unsportsman-like practice of people red-thumbing ones they don't like, effectively removing the green thumbs that've already been received. All it takes is a concerted effort by someone like, let's say Stamp or Luser, and anyone's votes can be erased. Particularly if that someone said bad stuff about kiting, even if it was all in fun. I watched it happen to me and it wasn't a nice feeling. Imagine getting a whole lot of votes and then watching them disappear...I thought the idea was to pick the best one, not try to tear down the votes of a person or caption you don't like.

We should vote on this. Yeah?

I never even knew thumbs counted. In mine I picked what I thought was funniest, clever or timely (olympics or political etc)

the first one was, sunday to sunday, thumbs to vote, last winner decides if its tied.
It's flexible thou. Cant remember who started it .

i have never red thumbed a caption i didn't think was funny.
i red thumb posts i see as arrogant, nasty, self-serving or pointless. but never a caption entry.

I vote a rigged contest.
I think Bondys (still sounds strange) been sitting on this photo preparing months in advance or has been taking hilarious enhansing drugs.
