Safety should be the no 1 issue for all sailors and event organisers.

From personal experience having been hit by a sailor at Wellington Point" bearing off" at 35 knots.

Rules are fine so long as participants follow them and event organisers apply them.

I sail for fun .saftey is obvious.
Event organisers should let sailers know the rules before registering.
No bareawy .event cancelled over 25kn.
Boundaries.
No bareaway means alot of speed sailers wouldn't go.
This event has lost its balls.
Bring back the red thumb

So there is no info on windwanderers site or any where else for that matter about the rules.
Does anybody have anything ?
Can we bearaway ?
Or as richy said sail nude?
Like to know what's happening.
Soon.
Entries limited....to what?

Except from the Notice of Race:

7. COMPETITION FORMAT 7.1. This is a gps event.
7.2 The focus is a "straight line" event - no bear aways

Sorry. But this does not describe a GPS speed event.
Choosing the best angle from the true wind is what the skill of GPS speed sailing IS! Period.
For me, anything else is quite pointless and not any test of skill or sailing ability.

It is a sad thing to read, as I greatly enjoyed my whole experience at Barrum in 2016.

I wish you all the best and hope all those who attend have a fun time.

WOW, I really enjoyed my time up there , apart from the lack of real wind.
This is a silly war to run an event, thumbs down from me

Registered this morning, looking forward to the windsurf event, and sailing at this location for the first time. Thanks to the Wind Wanderers team, the online rego process is great.

You'll love it Dezza. My first year last year, and despite only one comp day, really enjoyed the event.
Great location and awesome to meet so many other sailors.
Signed up and leave booked.

We are very pleased to announce a major sponsorship by NEIL PRYDE.

The event will be known as

NEIL PRYDE BURRUM WINDFEST 2018
supported by
Sunshine Coast Boardsports and Surf FX

Our major prize this year is a NEIL PRYDE FOIL. As in previous years this will be allocated in a random draw. They have also generously donated lots of other prizes for our random draw.

With the continued support of KA 72 we will be introducing a new division - POINT TO POINT.
Two software generated imaginary lines will be drawn on the course and KA 72 will measure the fastest sailor over this distance.

More information coming.

Is there a clear definition to what is and what isnt a bareaway.
I heard about last years multiple protests and can see it repeating .

If it blows then it would be extra special :)
