So I've just got this idea about perhaps having a crack at making a sailboard or 10. After doing a bit of searching around it doesn't appear like there's much info out there for getting started. Could anyone tell me of any good sites to get started and roughly how much $$ I need to part with to get going?

Thanks

With regards to the polystyrene foam blank (core), I have had a few surfboards CNC hot wire cut by Foamex in Bayswater (melbourne). I drew the designs using solidworks, exported dxf files for the rocker and plan shape. Saves a lot of time and they weren't that expensive.

search harder!..

vacuum pump instructions on this site, block of 11-14Kg EPS from the yellow pages and the following two links pretty much covered everything I needed from scratch.. and the price list at the bottom is for ATL composites in QLD, (should be similar everywhere)

edit* obviously all that carbon was not needed, I was getting quotes for different grades.. price will vary with carbon content and missing tools- $500 to $30000000000
