Can't seem to find a way to get broken tip out of this batten pocket. My point 7 had a horizontal slit which I used needle nose pliers to get the tip out. Any suggestions?

A metal tube slightly larger than the batten.

Open one of the seams a little (above or below the batten tip) just enough to get the tip out. Repair the seam by hand (I've used waxed whipping twine) before replacing the batten. There is very little force on that seam, so the operation is safe to do, even with a poor stitch job.
