wow I have never seen it that windy inside JB, I usually SUP inside the bay and occasionally put a sail on the SUP to play around with. Sanctuary Point seems to have all the wind. Well my chrissy hols are booked for down there so hopefully I will see some wind in the bay.

Hey gegc,

You must have been unlucky - it's just about the windiest spot on the east coast after Gerroa.

If it's 30 knots at Santuary point it's 30 knots at JB only difference is JB is choppier.
Pick whichever you prefer-both are great

guys just keep it in mind if your down this way and there's a good southerly have a look at callala bay , its the further est northern point of jervis bay ,you have the choice of big lazy swells out he back or flat water behind the reef, the wind is usually nice and even so most of the gusts have evened out by the time they get to callala
here's a pic behind the reef in a 25knt southerly the pic is close to low tide and is totaly covered where the guy is standing at high tide,if you like jumping with heaps of speed you will notice a ramp at the end of the reef and the swell pics up the further you go out , if you plan sailing send me a PM please, i have just brought a new 5/9 freeride just for this spot

Yes bring back summer.....

I'm missing it so much I uploaded a few of my summer windsurfing vids to the iPad in my care so I can watch them more conveniently. I generally watch them every couple of days. How sad.

This one was watched the least on utube but is my favourite. A great windsurfing song to accompany it.

really, I am down JB quite a lot but rarely see JB as windy as SP. Maybe its just a location thing.

That's interesting, because it's true Sanctuary gets slightly higher wind gusts because of the aerofoil effect from the Bay's promontory, but JB has far more consistent wind, has virtually no weed, longer runs, great ramps for jumping etc etc. I used to sail at Sanctuary when I was much younger (hitting 40 next year alas) but I just enjoy JB far more. That said, when next I'm up, I should get the speed gear into the Basin to try my luck at 30+ nautical miles, as I managed a 29 NM in JB that day on a 6.4 and 55 slalom. Incidently, that video was taken at around 11:30 in the morning and I changed down to a Koncept 5.0 at 2 when the wind went 25+.

Hey IKW,

KA Koncept 6.4 and CA SL55 with 23cm Symmy speed. Changed down to 5.0 Koncept at 2 when wind went 25-30knots.

And haven't the seabreeze forecast have been pretty good lately? They picked it picking up late yesterday. This morning was spot on. Didn't see you out on the lake as I drove past Keef. Don't tell me you missed it. Sunday 4.30 pm. see you there.

I thought last summer was pretty good. Definitely better than the 2009/2010 summer. That one was a real fizzer.

I had a bit of time off over Christmas and New Years and went sailing in beaut seabreezes almost every day. Of course summer is longer than that but when you are working who cares? That heat wave at the end was a real pain of course.

Thanks mate. Sailed there quite a bit too. I've sailed up from Husky in nor easters, across to Long Beach and then scream back to Husky. It's a good round trip about 50km total sailing. Also sailed Husky to Murrays Beach and back, which is awesome.

did u launch from the yacht club?

we stopped there around chrissy, and contemplated rigging as it was quite windy, but big storm was brewing so we kept driving to vic

Jervis bay really looked like a dream place to sail

haircut next time your down this way send me a PM, for me the chop in a n/east is too close and bumpy for my boards so i sail at sanctuary point, in a southerly at callala the swells are huge and it can be like sailing flat water so i use my CA55 or rrdcult wave, if you like jumping the water behind the reef is really flat so you can hit the ramp at full speed and get some huge air but ill leave that stuff to you young guys
